How to start your own lesbian sorority? I would really like to start my own lesbian sorority. Yes, i understand there are several, but i don't feel they offer what i would like to be apart of. Sure their website says one thing but they carry themselves another way.I would like to know where to start. Is there a national office to contact to get more information? |
| If you want to start your own sorority, there is no national office for you to contact, you're on your own. greekchat.com has a few threads about starting a sorority. You should first determine why this group needs to be a sorority not just a club or support group, what you want to accomplish, and find some likeminded women. You should also lay down some ground rules about dating within the group, it's a situation that can and will get messy eventually. There's no formula doing this. |
Reveler sorority a lesbian sorority? i know someone who was in it and i need to know if that girl is a lesbian or not thanks |
| Her name was Janet Doe and she was P&P :-) |
If I am an Agnostic and a Lesbian but want to join a historically Black sorority, can I? Or how hard would it be to overcome the politics and go against the "standard" impression of what a member of one of these sororities usually is? |
| Sororities aren't all based on religion so why not? |
If you are bi or lesbian can you join a sorority? I was thinking about joining a sorority when i go to college. However i am bi/lesbian..still havent figured out the whole thing yet. I am pretty girly and stuff but im just wondering if a sorority looks down on things like that or if they are all for that. Does anyone know. And yes i know that there are some lesbian sororities but my school doesnt have those. |
yes, you can and should if you want to.
The problem is, that you need to have your own individuality and sororities dont really "promote" that.
I would do your research before joining anyone, but there are LGBT in sororites.
Good luck. |
Who is over lesbian sororities? I understand that college sororities have a group( i think it's called NCP) excuse me if i have that wrong. I would like to start a lesbian based sorority and need to know whom would i talk to about this. What rules and regs would i need to follow and how to move forward. |
| Your sorority needs to have multiple chapters at multiple schools, exist for a certain amount of years, and some other requirements before it can become part of the NPC. You are starting a local sorority, and you don't have to follow any rules other than what the school has set up. |
Do sororities such as Alpha Kappa Alpha and Delta Sigma Theta accept Lesbians into their sorority? A friend of mines had interest in become a member of one of the following sororities but was not accepted into the membership. She believes that it was because of her sexuality. I wanted to know can they do that? Not gain you membership because you are a lesbian? |
| Delta Sigma Theta is an equal opportunity organization and does not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. We are however a sorority and not a club and as such there is a rigorous selection process examining leadership, academicw and other criteria and not everyone makes the cut. We are not obligated to extend membership to any and everyone. Many heterosexual young woman fail to receive invitations for membership as well. I understand that your friend may be quite disappointed but to assume that it is due to her orientation is presumptuous. |
Lesbian studs allowed in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority? I have a friend who is very interested in joining DST but is afraid that because of the way she dresses will affect her chances of joining. I know that DST doesn't discriminate but will they make her dress a certain way or will she be able to be herself and dress as she does. THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE! |
| Despite the fact she wears "boy" clothes on the basis of a social gender construct, biologically speaking, she is still a *girl* under the *boy* clothes that she wears. Therefore, they should determine if she should join based on what's biologically between her legs, not what she uses to cover it. ;-) |
